Venetia Williams at Sandown on Friday
With the trainer Venetia Williams in such fine form currently it pays to keep a close eye on her entries. Over the last 14 days she has a 45.45% record with her chasers having won 5 times in 11 runs which is +£44.25 to a level £1 stake.

Burrows Park is the first of her horses to race. He has been off for 264 days at the time off writing. He had wind surgery in July 2021 and this will be his first run since then.
He was pulled up in the last two races and lost a shoe in one of them. He has had the operation since then and hopefully this will have sorted out any problems. Venetia has entered him in to the same class of race as he was contesting before the procedure so I would presume it worked or she would have dropped him in grade.
The handicapper has dropped his rating down to a promising mark. He has won twice over hurdles at a higher mark then Friday. He has no winning form chasing but last time Burrows Park encountered fences he was 9lb worse off. He will certainly appreciate this easier task.
Lucy Turner has partnered him in 7 races so far, has won on him 3 times and has been placed twice. She will know what needs to be done to get him to win and claims a useful 3lb.
Venetia Williams is good at getting horses to win first time out after a break as proven by my next selection and I think this gelding will run well on Friday.

Desque De L’Isle has only ever won on soft going but his breeding suggests he should be capable of winning on good ground if the ground does not soften up with the forecast rain. The manner of his last victory suggests he is capable of handling the rise in class and he will get the trip.
On his reappearance after a 276 day break he won comfortably. He came forwards near the end and was shaken up after a small error 2 out but it looked like Desque De L’Isle had loads in hand. The handicapper did not take this lying down and raised him by 10lb. However the rise has been somewhat compensated by the claimer.
The inexperienced amateur jockey Ned Fox is in the saddle claiming a mighty 10lb. He is yet to win a chase but his overall record shows he has finished in the top 4 positions in 5 out of the 7 chases he has contested.
