Buick vs Murphy 13/10/2021 Part 1
Buick Vs Murphy Best Rides Wednesday 13/10/2021
We are being treated to a ding dong battle for the champion flat jockey that looks like it is going down to the wire on Saturday. Oisin is in front currently but William has eaten in to his lead over the last few days. Buicks treble yesterday today took the gap to only 4 wins!
I cannot decide who I want to win! I am glad it is between two of my favourite jockeys. Oisin is obviously brilliant but I feel that Buick would be the jockey I would choose to ride my imaginary horse. An imaginary horse is like an imaginary friend but much more expensive!
I will be following this battle up to Saturday assessing the chances in each race each day and making my recommendations accordingly.
Nottingham 1.00 Medyaf WIN 5/2 Skybet Bog
Medyaf looks interesting in the first race at Nottingham tomorrow. William Buick has a brilliant record with first time out horses. Williams profit to a level £1 stake is so high in this type of scenario we should probably have a gamble with this one doing the business. This is a well-bred Sea the Moon x Rock Of Gibraltar Gosden trained colt. He is a full brother to Quest the Moon who won on good to soft and good. He won two Group 3 races and a group 2 so Medyaf has the potential to be very smart indeed.
Nottingham 1.30 Rockfire WIN 9/4 Bet365 Bog
Buick rides another member of the Sea the Stars family here. This will be the colts debut on the race track and William has an uncanny ability to get debutants home first go. Trained by Gosden Rockfire is likely to be quite similar to the colt he rode in the race before but perhaps more forward than the Sea the Moon colt as Sea the Stars progeny seem a bit better developed at two.
2.05 Nottingham Peace Offering 9/2 Bet365 Bog
Call me boring snoring but I am putting this one up for exactly the same reasons as the first two. The stable is awesome at getting first time winners and so is Buick. This means the first three races will be extra exciting. See not boring after all! This filly is Lope de Vega x Dansili and the trip is ideal for her first run. The dam got placed in a group 3 and a group 2. I would be surprised if the Gosdens have not got this one as well prepared as possible for this. The bigger yards have an advantage with first time horses due to the quality of bloodstock, the level of the training facilities available and the ability to get a great jockey on board. It is not such a risk to wager on an unraced 2yo as 20 years ago in my opinion.
