Breeders Cup Saturday Part 2

Whilst I enjoy any Breeders cup I would like to say that Del Mar is absolutely the wrong track to run this event on. The draw is king not the horses. I will now stop moaning.  I feel a bit dispirited by the last race yesterday but luckily Unibet paid out on both results which means we were in profit with Go Bears Go running a stormer and returning good ew money and Modern Times winning his race.  It was a disgrace to see the winning horse booed.  It was not his fault the Americans did not get paid out.

6f Qatar Racing Breeders' Cup Sprint (Grade 1) (3yo+) (Main Track) (Dirt)

Jackie’s Warrior is a red hot favourite and has been well backed.

He has won his last 3 Group races in style winning by a combined distance of over 14 lengths.  Looking at his CV I can’t see one in the field that could take him on especially as he has a decent draw.

This exceptional 3yo colt is a winning machine and it would be a major shock to see him lose this.

1m FanDuel Breeders' Cup Mile presented by Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund (Grade 1) (3yo+) (Turf)

I hate to be boring snoring but Charlie Appleby’s horse is too good to oppose unless you are opposing him with the other Charlie Appleby trained runner.  Charlie is in my opinion the best trainer in the world at this moment by some distance.  I hear you shouting, America, but I am right.

It’s fair to say he will have no issues with 1m.  My main evidence for this is not the 3 races he has raced over a mile although he won on debut over 1m 1/2 f. My main evidence is that he is a Dubawi x Noverre cross and that speaks for itself.

He is a battler with a scintillating turn of foot who is going to be tough to beat. He has won a race worth £438,000 on Good to firm so will deal with the ground fine.

In France he did the job that was put in front of him but I am an arrogant Englishman who does not place much value in French form and their weird slow run sprint at the end races.

If you back him you may be concerned but he is a hold up horse and will surge through at the end like an equine missile

He will get a good draw, the going, trip and can deal with the class.

1m1f Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (Grade 1) (3yo+ Fillies & Mares) (Main Track) (Dirt)

Letruska is another horse that makes my job easier writing this up

Letruska: 6 wins from 7 runs, completed 5 timer last time out.

Job done.

What you want more?

My American tipster friend on Twitter @failedtomenace says this is the best horse he has seen this year. When she was beaten it was by a head from one of her competitiors in this race Shedaresthedevil.  That was an amnomally and will not happen again.

Letruska Win 7/4 Unibet

1m4f Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (Grade 1) (3yo+) (Turf)

It’s quite possible Tarnawa will be defeated by her biggest challenger today: Del Mar.  Although the data provided by the Del Mar Throughbred club related to the draw over 1m4f on turf is sparse I think it is fair to assume the draw will have a savage affect on the chances of the favourite and completely ruin her day.

I have to go with the Legend that is Charlie Appleby. Yibir has come on massively since being gelded in May and he looks like the real deal.

He is ridiculously good and will be used to the bell at the start of the races in America.

He embarrassed the field last time out at Belmont park in a stakes races that mysteriously has no group rating that was worth £391,000.  After falling asleep at the start he gradually started to stir from his slumber as he became detached and was coaxed along. By the turn the jockey was beginning to get desperate and switched him to the outside.  It was 2f out before Yibir deigned the race worthy of his attention and swaggered past the competition to trounce them by 2 1/2l.  He won easily at his leisure and can do the same again.

Yibir EW 8/1 Grosvenor Sport 1/5 1-4

1m2f Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (Grade 1) (3yo+) (Main Track) (Dirt)

Essential Quality is one of my favourite horses in training.  The superstar Godolphin grey will have his work cut out beating Knicks Go but I think he can do it. I really don’t see Hot Rod Charlie spoiling the party.

He won the Breeders Cup TVG Champion Juvenile last year and has only been defeated once since which was his only defeat ever in 9 races. He only lost that day by just over a length and he got bumped twice at the start.

Essential Quality is only 3 and he has won 4 Group 1’s, 2 Group 2’s and 1 Group 3.  It is an incredible haul gained by one of the best horses in the world at this point in history.

He has a decent draw in the race and I can see Essential Quality stalking Knicks Go and coming past on the final straight.

My partner has a bet at 8/1 with one of her bookies which is a price to be jealous of.  We really got in to him after watching him in June and now he has a special place in our hearts.

I ran a survey on Twitter to see who the most beautiful horse at the Breeders cup is and Essential Quality won!

Essential Quality Win 3/1 Bet365
